# Prop Hunt comic taunts 2026-10-01 additions: duck-giggle.wav, double-honk.wav, spring-sneeze.wav, squeaky-question.wav and runaway-toy-band.wav are original xFPS edits made only from the six CC0 recordings credited below. Exact source/edit mapping is in README.md and scripts/build-prop-taunt-variants.mjs. No extra recordings or music were imported. All original source credits and CC0 terms remain applicable. Six short excerpts from independently uploaded sound recordings, downloaded from the public Freesound Ogg previews on 2026-09-06. Each primary source page explicitly identifies its sound as **CC0 1.0 Universal**. These are recorded comic sound effects, not movie/celebrity quotes or a claimed collection of recognizable internet memes. | File | Sound / credited author | Duration | Primary source | | --- | --- | ---: | --- | | duck.wav | Duck Quack — gibarroule | 0.52 s | https://freesound.org/people/gibarroule/sounds/365133/ | | squeak.wav | squeak duck2.WAV — samplecat | 0.44 s | https://freesound.org/people/samplecat/sounds/11566/ | | boing.wav | Cartoon Boing.wav — reelworldstudio | 0.90 s | https://freesound.org/people/reelworldstudio/sounds/161122/ | | honk.wav | Horn honk.wav — deleted_user_2104797 | 0.94 s | https://freesound.org/people/deleted_user_2104797/sounds/326069/ | | whistle.wav | Slide whistle 2 — sheepfilms | 0.60 s | https://freesound.org/people/sheepfilms/sounds/432546/ | | raspberry.wav | Raspberry.aif — oldedgar | 0.46 s | https://freesound.org/people/oldedgar/sounds/97979/ | License: https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/ Attribution is not required by CC0; author and source credits are retained for provenance. No endorsement is implied. The source authors describe a real duck, rubber duck, jaw harp, horn, slide whistle and raspberry respectively. Source-page license verification establishes the uploader's published license; it is not independent certification of their recording history. ## Format and preparation All six files are mono PCM16 WAV at 22,050 Hz. Total audio payload: **170,490 bytes**. The public previews were decoded/resampled with Chromium 145 Web Audio at 22,050 Hz, arithmetic-mean stereo downmix, then stored as little-endian Float32 for the pinned import stage. Selected short reports have their DC mean removed, a 110-frame cosine fade-in and 441-frame cosine fade-out (1,323 for the decaying boing), then a target sample peak of 0.8. PCM16 rounding produces a measured maximum of 0.8000122, within one quantization step of that target, with no clipped samples. Both file endpoints are zero. `sources.json` records exact exclusive-end crop frames, fade lengths, source/decoded/output SHA-256 hashes, final durations, gain and RMS. Peak matching does not imply identical perceived loudness; final quiet/loud distance and mix levels belong to gameplay integration. At the requested minimum playback rate 0.9, the longest clip lasts about 1.044 s, within the existing 1.25 s spatial chain lifetime. ## Reproduce and verify From the repository root, with Node 22+ and a local Chromium available: ```sh CHROME_BIN='/absolute/path/to/chrome' node scripts/decode-prop-taunts.mjs /tmp/fuux-taunt-sources node scripts/import-prop-taunts.mjs /tmp/fuux-taunt-sources node scripts/import-prop-taunts.mjs --check ``` The decoder downloads only the six pinned preview URLs, verifies their hashes, uses an isolated temporary browser profile and local server on 127.0.0.1:18920, and closes them afterward. On this machine its default browser path is the cached Chromium installation; set CHROME_BIN elsewhere. The importer refuses changed decoded sources or outputs. Another browser decoder/version may produce different floating-point samples and will intentionally fail the strict checksum rather than silently change the assets. The checked-in WAVs remain directly verifiable without a browser or network via `--check`. Validation performed: all six downloaded and decoded successfully; exact import reproduced all six committed hashes; mono/rate/bit depth, duration ≤1 s, peak, zero endpoints and total bank size verified. This asset check does not claim live gameplay listening or human approval of perceived humor/loudness.
